Rubber wrist bracelets have gained in popularity since 2004 when Lance Armstrong declared his “Livestrong” campaign with yellow, rubber bracelets imprinted with his message of hope. The bracelet has been used to symbolize cancer awareness and cancer research. The wrist bracelets are proclaiming support for a variety of causes and to bring awareness to those same causes. The bracelets have made a huge impact on society and the way we think about the causes of the world.

Rubber wrist bracelets are also used as a social commentary in today’s world. The wrist bracelets help declare your rank in the world or your love or disdain for a chosen element.  While rubber wrist bands are mainly worn to send a positive message, they are also used to send a message of evil such as those worn by gangs. Supposedly, the wrist bracelets will give the gang members strength and courage but I’m not sure it does much of anything except let the police know what thug belongs to which gang.

Rubber bracelets are sometimes worn to modify behavior. Seeing the bracelet will give them another of focus and hopefully a positive direction for their energy to flow. With some therapy, a rubber wrist bracelet may have a calming effect on a mind running rampant before any damage is done. A rubber wrist bracelet may be worn by the youngster sitting in a timeout. As long as he has that bracelet on, he knows he has done something wrong and he has time to think about what he did.

Punk rockers at one time wore o-rings around their wrist as a statement of anti jewelry. Since rubber has practically no value compared to traditional gem encrusted jewelry, it was the rockers show of support for the common man with no wealth or it was just a way to thumb their nose at society in general. Sometimes the rubber wrist bracelets were “gemmed up” with glitter to represent what they believed wealth should be.

Rubber wrist bands are available at all over the internet. The supply is probably more than the demand and the bargains are out there.
